God Hates

Good Morning,

Psalm 11:4 “The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.”

vs. 5 “The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.”

vs. 6 “Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.”

vs. 7 “For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”

On the anniversary of 9/11, and the day after the cowardly assassination of Charlie Kirk, let me remind you that we have a God in Heaven. The Scripture reminds us that God is watching, God knows, and that God will take care of the wicked and the righteous in His perfect justice.

The Scripture reminds us that God will try the righteous. God will test us, correct us, chasten us, and work to make us more like Jesus. The Bible says that God hates wicked people and those who love violence.  We are assured in verse six that God will rain down fire upon the wicked.  Yes, God does hate.

We live in a wicked world, and although we seek to have peace and justice, there is literally, nothing we can do to completely eliminate wickedness. Men are evil. We have a sin-cursed nature, and men will find a way to be shameful, perverse, and violent.

Someone may say that if we are good, peaceful, and kind, others will be peaceful and kind to us – this is simply a nice thought. Our Savior lived a perfect life and never treated anyone any way other than perfect, yet the violence and the wrath of men that was poured out on Him was indescribable. Is is a fact that evil hates good and anyone who stands for good, and those who do right will find themselves in the crosshairs of evil and violence.

The greater your impact for good, the greater the assault will be upon your life. That assault will come, whether it be unleashed on America as a nation, Charlie Kirk as an individual, or any church that is aggressively standing for righteousness. Satan hates right and good, and his great goal is to steal, to kill, and to destroy.

We do not understand why it seems that evil triumphs. Job asked the question; and throughout the ages, countless others have asked as well.  In the Scriptures, we are assured that God is in Heaven watching and will violently punish the wicked. I thank God that He is no liar.

We should keep doing right; we should strive to lift up righteousness. We should pray that God will call more young people to be missionaries, preachers, or political activists. There is nothing wrong with getting godly people in political positions.

Pray for your country.  Pray for the churches that preach the Gospel. Pray that God will call great leaders to rise up and to stand for good and against evil.
