Faithfulness

Good Morning,

The Bible speaks much about the faithfulness of God:

1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Lamentations 3:23 “…great is thy faithfulness.”

God will bring us into a relationship with Him, in faithfulness.

Hosea 2:20  “I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.”

God is faithful to afflict us.

Psalm 119:75  “I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.”

We also ought to be faithful.

Matthew 25:23 “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

1 Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”

We ought to be faithful to our job, faithful to not only show up but to do our job well.  We ought to be faithful in the training of our children as well.  A faithful person will manifest their faithfulness in every area of life.  The real pressure in life is being what you are supposed to be in every area of life.

Faithfulness means that others can depend upon you.  If you say something will be done, others know that a faithful person will absolutely make it happen.

With that in mind, let me be blunt about this matter of being faithful.  We hear about people being faithful or unfaithful to their marriage vows.  I would like to challenge that thought.  We say that if a man gets physically involved with another woman that he is unfaithful, but what about the rest of the vows?  “To have and to hold, from this day forward…” The man or lady that stops “holding” violates the same vows!  God calls a lack of physical attention, fraud.  You defraud your spouse when you fail to be faithful in your physical relationship.

1 Corinthians 7:5 “Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.”

(You probably did not see that one coming.)

Faithfulness has to do with Bible reading, and if you expect to have a close relationship with God, you need to be faithful to Him.  Read daily, and attend church faithfully. Of all relationships, we ought to be faithful to God.

While training our children, we must be sure to develop a passion for faithfulness.  May we be faithful, but also instill a desire to be faithful in our children so that in the days ahead, others can depend upon the word of our child.

You can depend upon God; He will be faithful to keep His Word and care for you.  Let us also determine to be trustworthy or faithful in our dealings with people and with God.

This is probably one of the most vital and wonderful characteristics a Christian can possess.
